Johanna + Jimmy | Northern VA Wedding Photographer

Hired 3 weeks before their big day via email.  The inquiry made me nervous because I didn’t think it was real with the timing and ‘overseas’ nature of the inquiry.  Better yet, Jimmy found me thru facebook — and not because he was a ‘fan’ of my business page (b/c he wasn’t at the time), rather, he just did a search and found me?  Amazing.  Thank you FACEBOOK.  Thank you Jimmy!

But long story short, I am 2 for 2 with couples that have hired me mere weeks before their big day.  2 years ago a precious couple who are stationed overseas with the State Dept hired me for their one week in DC to tie the knot before moving on to their next assignment in Europe….then Jimmy and Johanna here…both stationed in Japan (Marines), arrived days before the wedding and off to Camp Pendleton now came thru DC for 2 weeks to also tie the knot.  They met in Japan and fell in love. AWESOME.  I witnessed this LOVE and am a FAN!  Their energy is fabulous and I was smiling the entire day.

I have had more fun with these short-turnaround-couples and am HAPPY to be hired weeks before a weddings despite the popular belief in my industry that these folks don’t “value” photography because they wait until the last minute to hire a photographer.  Not the case with them — they just didn’t have time and planned a whirlwind wedding.  I am blessed to have them find me!

As a footnote, Johanna had her dress made in Thailand…she met with her seamstress once I believe.  Incredible.  and NOTE:  her wedding shoes….her combat boots.  Once a Marine, Always a Marine.  GOD BLESS HER!  GOD BLESS THEM!

Happy Birthday to Jackson!

My oldest is 11 this week.  WAHHHH!  Tween years ahead and not looking forward to it, frankly.  He’s still my smoochie, affectionate kid so I’m grateful for small miracles!

Here he was at 2 years old!!!

He’s into flying down our driveway on his skateboard.

My next door neighbor did a wee, okay HUGE, greeting for him. undefined

“it goes to 11”

He requested Key Lime Pie for his birthday.  I have never baked it before and I have to say this Key Lime Pie was out of this world.  It’s a FROZEN KEY LIME pie by Ina Garten.  HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it.  I keep stealing slivers from the freezer.
