Cara is a rising high school in Fairfax County and has been VERY active in local theatrical productions often playing the lead — she was just Cosette in Les Mis with the Reston Players and just wrapped up playing Ursula in The Producers at her High School. She is auditioning all the time and balancing her schoolwork with rehearsals. It’s impressive! The first time I heard her was in my church’s teen choir and her vocals gave me chills. I literally get teary when I hear her sing. Then I found out she is the daughter of one of my tennis partners so that was fun! I am happy to have done some recent headshot of her in my studio and we will be going outside soon for some more natural light shots. Mark my words, KEEP AN EYE On her name. Cara Bachman. She will be in NYC on broadway. She is remarkable at 17.
Well, I have neglected my blog once again. As such I will be blogging some fun sessions from this spring (and winter) over the next couple of weeks to make up for lost time! For now, I am posting a wedding I shot in January. Right after Christmas/New Years. Have never shot a January wedding but my bride is a graduate student and could only fit this event in on her break. It was REALLY COLD this January day but we did get outside for about 15 minutes of portraits walking on ice/snow before we hustled back in — Carrie and David got married at Reston Town Center at the Hyatt Regency. The wedding ceremony was in a ballroom and the room was decorated by Jennifer Morris Flowers and it was incredible! A total winter wonderland theme for the ceremony and reception. Music and gorgeous uplighting by my friend and colleague Brian King of Superlative Events.
One of my favorite images of the day was when Carrie came around the corner to see her dad all dressed up! Their reactions were priceless.
This fun family ‘won’ my services thru Burgundy Farm Country Day School’s winter fundraiser/silent auction a couple years ago. We finally got it on the calendar and had a ball and a wonderful day. This little princess was so fun to photograph — no qualms being in front of the camera, all fun and ideas and had a wonderful sense of humor. Love these kinds of sessions!!!
Here is Darla’s BFF, Jamie, from our OBX Summer shoot. What fun it was to have 2 seniors to photograph in that glorious summer sunshine!! But as is always the case iwth summer, we had a good storm and rain for a couple hours leading up to the shoot. Maybe minutes before we were to start it was still drizzling. But then the weather moved out and the sunset presented itself. WHEW!
I took both girls out for their shoots back to back and was able to get a few of them together acting goofy.
My July wedding was a HOT one. Jillian and Jeffrey got married at National Harbor and had their ceremony and reception at Wolfgang Puck’s SUNSET ROOM. It was GORGEOUS. I was so impressed with the facility and the food presentation and just all of the logistics. Top notch. Aside from it being a scorching hot day, we had a great day shooting this gorgeous couple. Thanks to my awesome 2nd shooter too, Cynthia Rier. I had the honor of shooting Jillian’s sisters’ wedding last year too!
